Thanksgiving

Family was everything. It always has been for Rebekah, for all the Mikaelsons. Which is why she jumps on the idea of Thanksgiving dinner with alacrity and enthusiasm. Jesse likely hadn't realised what he'd inspire when he mentioned it, but it was too late to think about that now.
She'd invited everyone she could think of; those that were important to her, and those that were important to Hayley and Elijah as well. No expense had been spared, everything was going to be perfect from the table settings to the food.
Sadly things rarely worked out perfectly. Rebekah wasn't exactly a cook, her need for the skill minimal. A burnt and blackened turkey emerging from the oven, she'd done the only thing she knew how. She'd compelled their dinner from one of Darrow's best hotels. The Chef had willingly delivered up a roasted bird and more side dishes than Rebekah had even considered, along with pies and wine. It would be perfect, and she just hoped the wolves would ignore the scent of burnt meat on the air. Rebekah isn't planning on telling anyone about the delivery, completely planning on taking all of the credit.
She looks at the clock, tapping her foot. People should be here soon. Hopefully it all goes to plan.

"Thanks for inviting me," he said, sincerely.

Date: 2013-11-27 04:27 am (UTC)Rebekah trusts Alaric about as much as she can control him, which as he's now has all the powers of an Original is entirely not at all. But she's making an effort, and he's friends with people she'd rather keep on her side, including Damon. The bottle is very nice and as such she's appreciate and better disposed to his presence.
"You're welcome. If family is what we make it, I suppose we are connected." It's gracious enough a greeting, she imagines. It is the best she can manage. "Hayley likes you, so does Elijah."
She lifts the bottle, "I like this."

Date: 2013-12-05 10:02 pm (UTC)"Two, three, four? I have no idea. At least another." She assumes he understands Hayley was going to be there. "If they've any other little friends, then them too."

Date: 2013-12-09 02:22 am (UTC)"We can dream," she agrees, happy that he doesn't diasgree with her in this at least. It makes things more convenient. "Can I get you a drink? That's the least I can do as hostess."

Date: 2013-12-10 05:47 am (UTC)In spite of herself, she's beginning to like him too. "I have bourbon, if you'd like it."
She walks to the bar they've set up, plucking a nice bottle from further back out and offering it up for his approval.

Date: 2013-12-12 10:48 am (UTC)"Yes. I did." She appreciates his acknowledgment more than she cares to admit. "Here. You take this, then. I should get back to the kitchen."

Date: 2013-11-28 05:24 am (UTC)"This is amazing. There is a ton of food here. Rebekah must have been working on this for days."

Date: 2013-11-29 01:23 am (UTC)"Hardly. I had some help," she allows at the end, mentally daring Hayley or Elijah to disagree with her.

Date: 2013-11-29 05:33 am (UTC)"Well, you did an amazing job," he said, leaning forward to give her a kiss on the cheek. She really did amaze him at times with all that she could do. Jesse supposed that after a thousand years you'd have some tricks up your sleeve.
"It's awesome that you did all this for your friends and family."

Date: 2013-11-29 11:36 pm (UTC)"Stop," she says, kissing him lightly so he won't compliment her anymore and she won't feel guilty about her deception. "It's strange, thinking of Hayley as family. But she deserves this. Deserves more than simply being Klaus' offcast."

Date: 2013-11-30 02:11 am (UTC)"I think everyone is going to have a great time," he reassured her. Jesse knew how badly Rebekah tried to do things "properly" and he could tell she really wanted this day to go well. He was committed to doing everything he could to make sure that happened.

Date: 2013-11-30 05:36 pm (UTC)Jesse laughed and put his arms around her waist, pulling her a bit closer. He was pretty sure that everyone would have a blast and get along. Rebekah wouldn't invite anyone that would risk that, would she?
"You're here, of course I'm going to have a good time."

Date: 2013-12-01 04:15 am (UTC)"You say that now. Wait until everyone's here." She's not entirely sure they'll all be on their best behavior, no matter what promises she's gotten from them. "Werewolves."

Date: 2013-12-01 07:41 am (UTC)"Like Hayley, who I think is pretty awesome?" Jesse asked, giving her a bit of a look. He knew that traditionally the two groups didn't get along but when faced with the reality of it, it was super racist.

Date: 2013-12-01 12:47 pm (UTC)"Actually rather unlike Hayley. The rest are uncouth and unmeasured." She looks at the incoming guests with frustration and distaste. Rebekah doesn't hate them but also doesn't care for any of them other than Hayley.

Date: 2013-12-02 05:43 am (UTC)"But it's going to go fine," he reassured her. Jesse could imagine how taxing it was to make a meal like this knowing that it might be ruined because the guests couldn't get along. As far as he was concerned if it was a little tense that was no big deal but he knew she didn't feel the same way.
"Just relax and try to have some fun."

Date: 2013-12-04 05:09 am (UTC)"I know all that, but I have faith in you," he said, reaching up to run his fingers through her hair, trying to sooth her as best he could. He wasn't sure how well it would work, she wasn't good at relaxing, but he was going to try his best.

Date: 2013-12-05 10:01 pm (UTC)It's something, at least, and it does help albeit not that much. Rebekah allows herself a second to rest her head on his shoulder before the sound of breaking glass makes her whole body go rigid. "I will kill them."

Date: 2013-12-06 04:11 am (UTC)"You should go find out what that is," he said with a bit of a laugh. Whatever it was, it probably wasn't as big of a deal as she was going to make it out to be. Not that he was going to say that to her.

Date: 2013-12-09 02:23 am (UTC)"Thank you," she whispers, kissing him quickly before storming toward the sound of the crash. There's to be no mercy, not for any miscreants at her dinner.
