(no subject)

It's not like Jesse to be late. It's really not like Jesse to be late and not answer his phone. She calls and calls, finally telling Elijah and Hayley that she's going to Jesse's place to see if he's there. Elijah offers to come with her, but she tells him no, knowing that Hayley's safety is more important and it's likely something silly like a dead battery, or his phone on silen and he's forgotten he's supposed to stay at her place.

When he's not at hers or at the store she really starts to worry. She calls home, though she knows her brother would have called her if Jesse had shown up. Elijah tries to mask it, but she can hear the worry in his voice, sure that he's in part worried about just what Rebekah is going to do. She promises nothing rash, deciding, this once, to try and trust in the authorities.

It's something she soon wishes she hadn't tried. The looks that she received from the officers on duty were infuriating. They kept acting as if Jesse had just done out with his friends and she was an overbearing girlfriend. The more she tries to convince them otherwise, the more they won't listen to her and more annoyed she gets. When they tell her to take her 'little self' away she nearly snaps and lashes out, reining herself in at the very last moment storming out instead of snapping anyone's neck.

Rebekah is frustrated and out of options. Retracing her steps she goes from apartment to his work and the to her own home, in case she can find anything. Any sign of a struggle, any evidence that something untoward happened to him. There's nothing.

It's past midnight when her phone rings. An unknown number, she answers it immediately. "Jesse? Jesse is it you?"

"Bek-" The line crackles but she can still make out his voice. "He's got- Help-"

The line goes dead and she chokes back a sob. There's no time to be upset, Rebekah tells herself, turning off her emotion, going cold and hard. What she needs is to find Jesse and to do that she needs to focus.

There's only one thing she can think of, after calling Elijah to tell him that she won't be home and not to worry. It's Damon, it has to be. Rebekah's heard that his little perfect Elena has vanished and that he's been going off the rails. She has people who find it very beneficial to tell her these things. It only makes sense that he's found a way to break the compulsion and he's done this to hurt her. To make her suffer.

She needs to find him, and quickly.

[NYE Disaster]

New Year's Eve had been amazing, until now. Rebekah and Jesse had been there together, close to the stage and the effigy and waiting for the moment they were supposed to kiss. When the effigy exploded and bees had attacked was when everything changed. The crowd went wild, and as much as Rebekah had tried to stay close they'd been separated. She's been looking for him for at least half an hour, panicked and worried and close to calling Elijah to help her when she knows he needs to keep Hayley safe.

Not at the triage stations, Summer hadn't seen him, so she set off again, determined to find him. She's tracing her way back toward the effigy, nearly desperate as she calls out his name over and over.

She has to find him. There's no other choice for her.

Thanksgiving

Family was everything. It always has been for Rebekah, for all the Mikaelsons. Which is why she jumps on the idea of Thanksgiving dinner with alacrity and enthusiasm. Jesse likely hadn't realised what he'd inspire when he mentioned it, but it was too late to think about that now.

She'd invited everyone she could think of; those that were important to her, and those that were important to Hayley and Elijah as well. No expense had been spared, everything was going to be perfect from the table settings to the food.

Sadly things rarely worked out perfectly. Rebekah wasn't exactly a cook, her need for the skill minimal. A burnt and blackened turkey emerging from the oven, she'd done the only thing she knew how. She'd compelled their dinner from one of Darrow's best hotels. The Chef had willingly delivered up a roasted bird and more side dishes than Rebekah had even considered, along with pies and wine. It would be perfect, and she just hoped the wolves would ignore the scent of burnt meat on the air. Rebekah isn't planning on telling anyone about the delivery, completely planning on taking all of the credit.

She looks at the clock, tapping her foot. People should be here soon. Hopefully it all goes to plan.

Post Time Doors - Elijah

It’s been four days. Four days in that awful, horrible place with the mazes and the strange rhyming creatures. Rebekah hated nearly every moment of it, Jesse making a few moments bearable. Even worse it’s been four days unable to contact her brother, and four days without feeding. The former is worse to her than the latter, and sure that Elijah would have blood in his fridge she heads to his apartment after sending a quick text to say she was coming. It’s unsurprising that the door is unlocked and that he’s pacing restlessly. She nearly throws herself at him, wrapping arms about him and refusing to let go. “I’ve missed you.”

Not just another night out [[Olive and Summer]]

It's been more than a good night, it's been exactly the night that Rebekah's been needing. Everything from the decision to go out together to the way they'd all gotten ready at Rebekah's apartment, swapping dresses and makeup and dancing to the cds that Olive had brought. Even the time at the club had been good. There'd been drinks, dancing and a few boys who'd thankfully gotten the hint when the girls made it clear that they weren't there to flirt.

Really, she should have known it had been going too well. These sorts of things never worked out for her and this should be no exception. They were still a few blocks away from Rebekah's when she heard the footsteps behind them. At first she thought it was someone else walking home the way they were, but as they became loud enough for even the other girls to hear she knew that it wasn't just a coincidence. She's about to say something, to hurry them along to a better lit area when there's laughter and running. She turns in time to see three men coming at them, two of them brandishing knives.

"C'mon little ladies. Hand over your bags or we'll take 'em and you won't like that."

Reunion

At least two weeks have passed since Rebekah has spoken to Elijah, a longer time than she has gone in this place before. In fact, she has never withdrawn from him like this before, her family always the most important thing to her. He had left them, left Niklaus he claimed, but she has never turned her back on him. Not until now.

What has changed? She's mulled it over, tried to think on why being human and having her own life is so important to her. Knowing the betrayal they face at the hands of their own mother, a lifetime of running from their father, being staked at Niklaus' whim, these things have all made a difference to who she is. All Rebekah wants is for him to understand, and that he doesn't -- can't -- confuses and hurts her.

But enough iss enough. He was her brother, she loves him and frankly she does need him. After what happened with Damon (something she was trying to forget as quickly with possible) she's realised that she is again on the verge of being very alone.

Rebekah isn't good at being lonely.

Breaking into his apartment isn't a problem. He's not there, so she relocks the door and waits, curling up on his couch. He's long enough that she falls asleep with the dawn, in sleep finally relaxing, finally losing some of the hurt she carries with her each day.

Honesty among family

There was only one place that Rebekah would consider going after seeing Damon in the streets of Darrow. There was only one person who needed to explain himself, needed to explain the lies and the secrets. Elijah, her brother, her companion in this awful place. She had trusted him and he had betrayed that trust.

Why did she do this? She should have known better, should never have betrayed Niklaus, not even with Mikael's arrival in Mystic Falls. He was the one, the only one who'd never lied to her, never betrayed her. She held on to that thought, that anger, furious when she knocked on her brother's door.

"Elijah," she could break it down, but there was no need. He would answer it, and would answer her questions. Rebekah feigned sweetness, her voice nearly dripping with honey. "It's your sister. Let me in."
