It's not like Jesse to be late. It's really not like Jesse to be late and not answer his phone. She calls and calls, finally telling Elijah and Hayley that she's going to Jesse's place to see if he's there. Elijah offers to come with her, but she tells him no, knowing that Hayley's safety is more important and it's likely something silly like a dead battery, or his phone on silen and he's forgotten he's supposed to stay at her place.
When he's not at hers or at the store she really starts to worry. She calls home, though she knows her brother would have called her if Jesse had shown up. Elijah tries to mask it, but she can hear the worry in his voice, sure that he's in part worried about just what Rebekah is going to do. She promises nothing rash, deciding, this once, to try and trust in the authorities.
It's something she soon wishes she hadn't tried. The looks that she received from the officers on duty were infuriating. They kept acting as if Jesse had just done out with his friends and she was an overbearing girlfriend. The more she tries to convince them otherwise, the more they won't listen to her and more annoyed she gets. When they tell her to take her 'little self' away she nearly snaps and lashes out, reining herself in at the very last moment storming out instead of snapping anyone's neck.
Rebekah is frustrated and out of options. Retracing her steps she goes from apartment to his work and the to her own home, in case she can find anything. Any sign of a struggle, any evidence that something untoward happened to him. There's nothing.
It's past midnight when her phone rings. An unknown number, she answers it immediately. "Jesse? Jesse is it you?"
"Bek-" The line crackles but she can still make out his voice. "He's got- Help-"
The line goes dead and she chokes back a sob. There's no time to be upset, Rebekah tells herself, turning off her emotion, going cold and hard. What she needs is to find Jesse and to do that she needs to focus.
There's only one thing she can think of, after calling Elijah to tell him that she won't be home and not to worry. It's Damon, it has to be. Rebekah's heard that his little perfect Elena has vanished and that he's been going off the rails. She has people who find it very beneficial to tell her these things. It only makes sense that he's found a way to break the compulsion and he's done this to hurt her. To make her suffer.
She needs to find him, and quickly.
